Captain’s Report – 22 Feb 18

Dear Members,

New Committee Members

I would like to congratulate Rob Butler & Trent Fortescue on joining the Match Committee. I am sure their knowledge of golf and business will help us take golf at Lynwood forward.

Temporary Local Rule

As a result of the dry weather you may have noticed the ground splitting apart around the course causing crevasses to open up. We will be introducing a temporary local rule that relief may be taken if your ball is resting in one of these crevasses. This will be through the green and relief will be taken at the closest point without penalty. Please ask your playing partner for confirmation.

Junior Golf

As of the 17th February, our junior golfers will have two timeslots reserved on our competition sheet every Saturday.

These tee times may vary from week to week but will always be between 11.00 am and 12pm

This is a necessary move due to the fact that it is difficult for our juniors to get their names on a Saturday sheet. They are not allowed in the club unless they are with an adult, and some of them have very limited internet access.

Time sheets

Will our member base increasing over the last 6 months we have found that the use of time sheet bookings needed to be reviewed and some new guidelines outlined to golf members.

  1. Applies to Saturday competitions only
  2. Applies to morning tee times only
  3. Members are not allowed to book visitors in online at any time. All visitors to be booked via Pro Shop
  4. Visitors can only be booked in after 3.00pm Friday prior to the Saturday
  5. Our timesheets have a ‘Waitlist’. Members who are on this waitlist will have precedence over members or visitors for any available timeslot
  6. Men can now book into any dedicated ladies group timeslot if not filled, only after Wednesday prior to the Saturday. Must be a group of four
  7. Men can now book into any dedicated ladies individual time slots if not filled, only after 3.00pm Friday prior to the Saturday. Must be a group of four

Note: This will take effect 24th February, 2018

Mixed Pennants 2018

On Sunday 11th February 2018 our Mixed Pennants team played a must-win game against Bardwell Park GC. Unfortunately, we had a draw 2½ – 2½. It came down to the wire, but we could not get over the line. Last Sunday we could not continue the good form going down to Mona Vale. We had a great season with a new team. We are all looking forward to going one step further next year.

Major Pennants 2018

On Sunday 11th February our Major Pennants team had their first game against Fox Hills GC at Fox Hills. It was a tough day out for the boys going down 6 – 1. All games were close and they were confident of a win heading into our first home game. And that they did. On Sunday they played Fox Hills at Lynwood and had a great win 4½ – 2½. Let’s continue the good form against Twin Creeks this week.

‘TLC’ Hole

To help our Greens staff with general maintenance of our course we will be introducing two ‘TLC’ Holes. When you play you will see two signed holes around the course. Please help by filling in some extra divots on the fairways or repairing some extra pitch marks on the greens. These signs will be moved around to different holes by Greens staff

Match Committee Contact

Just a reminder that we have set up an email address to enable members to contact the Match Committee.

This can be used to raise any issues or concerns, ask any questions etc. Please feel free to contact us at any time. We will discuss the content of your email at our monthly meetings and provide you with a response.

Hit them well and I hope to see you all at the 19th

Dave Farrar
